There are more than a thousand restaurants in Budapest, many of which will be open at Christmas in the city center and in the vicinity of major Budapest attractions, like the Buda Castle in Budapest. Likewise, you can enjoy the floating restaurants of Budapest on Christmas cruises.

Here is the list of some of the most visited restaurants in Budapest, and their Christmas opening hours on December 24, December 25 and December 26 (we have added some of the December 31 and January 1 opening hours too).

Please note that these are only the peak of the iceberg restaurants, and many restaurant owners have not decided about the Xmas opening times yet. We will keep the list updated. Despite our best efforts, the restaurant owners may change their planned dates, so it is best to call them in advance to make sure you will be welcome.

Booking in advance is warmly recommended at all restaurants on the days of Christmas (from Xmas Eve to Boxing Day).
While the 24th of December is the ‘Holy night’ for Hungarians, the excellent luxury hotel restaurants in Budapest will be open, from Corinthia to Kempinski, also, there will be two Christmas Eve Cruises on the Danube. And if you are visiting the Castle district to see the Buda Castle, etc. you will also find some restaurants with delicious meals and Christmas menus (alas not the Fisherman’s Bastion Restaurant though).
