Saying good bye to the old year with a bit of running on the scenic Margaret Island in Budapest, or having a bit of sports fun while spending your Budapest Christmas break in the frosty city we so love?
Length of the Winter Running routes:
- 3.8km on Margaret Island Budapest
- 7.2km on Margaret Island Budapest
Date: 29 December 2012, registration at 9 am, running at 10am
Venue: Margitsziget Athletics Center
Cost: free to participate in the running race
After running there will be a raffle.
There is no entrance fee to enter the Margaret Island (Margitsziget) in the middle of the Budapest Danube, which is packed with some nice free sights like the medieval church ruins, statues, and you can rent bike carts all year round to have some winter fun in Budapest in November, December or January – as long as your hands do not get frozen to the handlebars, you will be fine but bringing a pair of gloves for cold winter weather in Budapest would help a lot to stand the elements better and enjoy your stay (of course, you can always do some winter shopping to get some hat, gloves, scarves or boots. The important thing is that you should dress well in winter in Budapest, Hungary.)
Margaret Island gets even more fun when there is real snow in Budapest as it turns into a popular snowball field, snowman art place, etc.
